University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering holds its valedictory function

Bangalore, August 13, 2002: The Valedictory function of Digital Signal Processing and Application was held today at University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE). This function was addressed by Mr. Asif Khader, CEO & MD, Cranes Software International Ltd. The chief guest for this function was Mr. Chennakeshava Kalmadi, Director of Technical Education. The participants were falicitated by Mr. K. C. Ramamurthy, Registrar, Bangalore University.
This function was held to falicitate the participants who had attended the fifteen day long training program conducted by (UVCE). DSP is an important subject taught at undergraduate level, while the advance DSP is a subject that is addressed at the PG level. The present center aims at training the teachers of engineering colleges, polytechnics as well as engineers from industries. This program was sponsored by AICTE and Bangalore University with a technical, hardware and software support was given by Cranes Software International Ltd. The technical lectures were given by faculty, scientists and staff from NAL, IISc, CDOT and Cranes Software International Ltd. This course had a participation of 110 people.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is an area of science and technology that has developed rapidly over the past few decades. The techniques and applications of DSP are as old as newton and gauss and as new as digital computers and integrated circuits (ICS). The rapid development of DSP is a result of significant advances in digital computer technology and IC fabrication. All reputed research firms have consistently forecasted a very bright future for DSP over next few years. DSP market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 30%.

University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering Bangalore, is the oldest Engineering college in the Karnataka State established in 1912 naming Government College of Engineering under affiliation of Mysore University. In 1964 Bangalore University set up and this Engineering College was transferred to Bangalore University. Initially, there were three branches Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. In 1970 Electronics and Communication Engineering was introduced. In 1994 Electronics and Communication Engg. from Electrical Department and Computer Science Engineering was started along with Electronics. Dr. Venugopal Rajuk is the Chairman of the Department of Electronics and Computer Science.
