Significant momentum in India for its industry leading Model Based Design tools: The MathWorks

  • R & D establishments and Corporates on a fast track adoption of technologies
  • Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Equipment and Machinery, and Technical Services verticals driving growth for the tools in Indian market

Bangalore, September 29th, 2005: The MathWorks Inc., the world's leading developer of technical computing software, and Cranes Software International Limited, an exclusive distributor of MathWorks' range of products in India and Sri Lanka, today announced that the commercial sector, R& D establishments and educational institutions were driving the growth for its leading Model based Design tools in the Indian market. The announcement was made during the 3rd MATLAB® & Simulink® Tech Expo 2005 being held in Bangalore.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Sr. Vice President, Cranes Software International Ltd. said, "The establishment of R & D centers in India by multinational corporations and the increased focus of Indian enterprises on R & D are driving the market demand for these technology solutions. With the market demand for skill sets around model based design increasing, engineering institutes are also fast adapting these tools as part of their curriculum, which is fuelling demand from the education segment for these tools. Going forward, we expect to build on the momentum we have achieved in the Indian market."

"Engineers and scientists worldwide are increasingly adopting Model-Based Design techniques using The MathWorks tools to transform the way embedded systems are developed by replacing paper documents, physical prototypes, hand-coding, and decoupled testing with executable models, simulation, and automatic code generation," said Dr. Jason Ghidella, Stateflow® and Simulink® Product Marketing Manager, The MathWorks. "We look forward to exchanging real-world Model-Based Design experiences with our Indian colleagues at this year's MATLAB® and Simulink Tech Expo."

In India, the commercial segment has shown a significant growth last year for the usage of simulation and model based design tools. While industries like Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial Equipment & Machinery, Technical Services, and Rail, Ships & other Transportation verticals are the major contributors to the growth, verticals like Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Medical, Communications, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Electronics, Financial Services, Instrumentation and Process Industries are also increasingly adopting these software tools.

The 3rd MATLAB® & Simulink® User Conference witnessed an all time high number of registrations from participants this year. Over 350 delegates representing leading corporates, R&D establishments, Government and Academia in India attended the conference to listen to 16 technical presentations in different application areas by users from Honeywell Technology Solution Labs, Delphi Corp, ADE, Siemens Information Ltd. and others.

The MathWorks has over 5000 active users in India and some of its key clients include Honeywell Technology Solutions, GE India technology Center private Ltd, HAL, TATA Motors, TCS, Wipro Technologies, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), and IIT Delhi.
